Fine Wine Specialist · DipWSET · MW Candidate
Two decades across Bordeaux harvests, Michelin-starred kitchens and the fine wine trade — now broker, producer and consultant, based in South Australia.
About
Guy Palmer-Brown’s career in wine began not in a classroom but in a cellar — and what followed were two decades that took him from harvesting at Château Lafon-Rochet to winemaking in Oregon and Roussillon, from building wine lists at some of London’s most acclaimed restaurants to founding a Michelin-starred business of his own. He holds the WSET Diploma and is currently working towards the Master of Wine qualification.
He served as Group Head Sommelier at The Clove Club during its ascent through the World’s 50 Best Restaurants, and as Wine Director for the opening of The NoMad Hotel London. In 2017 he co-founded The Fordwich Arms in Kent, which earned a Michelin star in 2018 and was named UK’s Best Restaurant in 2019. He also spent several years at Liv-ex, working on fine wine data and market research, including the development of the L-Win wine identification system.
In 2021 he relocated with his family to South Australia. He now runs Rare Vintage, a fine wine brokerage sourcing exceptional bottles directly from European cellars, and produces wine under his own label, Mighty Isle, from certified organic fruit in the Adelaide Hills and McLaren Vale.
Current Work
An Australian fine wine broker sourcing directly from European producers, domaines and négociants — wines that rarely reach Australia through conventional import channels. Every bottle inspected before shipping, with documented provenance from the producer’s cellar.
rarevintage.com.au ↗A small independent wine label producing from certified organic fruit across South Australia’s finest subregions. Founded with Tania Palmer-Brown in 2024. Limited production, shaped by years in the cellar and a deep respect for what the regions can give.
